How the Rikomagic MK802 Mini PC Changed the Game for Android PCs

MK802II

The Rikomagic MK802 mini PC has shown us that it’s possible to have a whole Android PC on a stick. This was but the first step in demonstrating that Android PCs are destined to arrive on the market, and that people will buy them.

Changing the Game

The Rikomagic MK802 mini PC started a revolution in the Android ecosystem, because until it appeared on the market, we’ve only really seen Android phones and tablets. We knew that Android was destined to be on all sorts of devices eventually, due to it being able to run on lower-performance hardware, and being open source, but the PC on stick devices kind of took us all by surprise.

With just an Android PC stick you can make your old PC monitor or TV alive, as long as it has an USB port. Then what you get is the full Android 4.0 experience. It’s a good thing it came with Android 4.0 from day one, because it was much more optimized for large screens than previous versions of Android. I still don’t think Android is as optimized as it needs to be for large screens, but Android 4.0 was certainly an improvement.
